It did not start with a Labrador, not even a dog for that matter. I have been passionate about animals my entire life. I remember as a young girl always wishing for and wanting more animals (sorry mom and dad). I had begged my parents for a rabbit at a young age, their response…I could start by helping my grandfather on his pig farm... to prove that I was responsible enough to have the rabbit that I so desperately wanted. The farm was located on our property and I was able to ride my four-wheeler or snowmobile (depending on the season) to the barn to help with chores daily. It was not long before my grandfather came to the realization that I was committed, which was when he gave me a piglet of my own to raise. I was thrilled. Not only did I raise that piglet, I went on to raise many. The lessons I learned in the small old barn are truly irreplaceable. I spent hours on end caring for these pigs whom I became incredibly devoted to. I learned a significant amount about reproduction at a very young age. I experienced many victories, as well as many heartbreaks, but that is where it all began. In the end I got a horse, not the rabbit that I had begged for...but that's a story for another day.

I purchased my first Labrador in 2012, I have always been fond of labs. Nala was what I would consider perfect. In 2014 she blessed me with my first litter of Labrador Retrievers… eleven of them! I was young, I certainly learned a lot. The entire experience was amazing to me. I knew in my heart that it was something that I would some day pursue, well that "someday" has come.

Miraculously, I married someone that loves dogs just as much as I do. Our daughter also shares the same passion, and has become a crucial part of our puppy socialization process. All of our dogs reside in our house and are part of our family. Currently we have eight dogs, all but one being a lab. We have a fenced in yard to allow safe exercise daily. As a family we truly cherish time spent outdoors, whether it’s playing with the dogs, tending to our many chickens, gardening, hunting, fishing, or visiting northern Maine. Our goal is to produce puppies who will enjoy all of the things that we do. We strive to produce the healthiest puppies possible, all of our breeding prospects are free of all genetic conditions and are completely OFA certified. Our puppies are all raised in our home, practicing both early neurological stimulation and early scent introduction. There is more in depth information regarding both these processes on the “Puppies” page.

From the moment our puppies are born, until the moment they join their new families, they are nurtured by us and become part of our family. We socialize each puppy as much as safely possible for their age, as well as engage in age appropriate enrichment activities. The first few months of a puppy's life is crucial and truly impacts both personality and behavior. As a breeder I have devoted myself to improve the breed, I have spent hours upon hours gaining knowledge about canine reproduction and what it takes to better the breed. Reading many books, attending webinars and learning from my own mistakes. I will continue to further my education to produce the healthiest, happiest puppies possible. Here at Range Pond Retrievers we are doing everything in our power to set the puppies we produce up for success and to provide you with the perfect companion, family member, hunting partner, and all around versatile Labrador.
